The 2009 Maroon Syrah ‘Reserve’ was made from a single vineyard source in the Oak Knoll District. This cooler southern region in the Napa Valley strikes a nice balance of ripening fruit but also maintain a nice balance of acidity. This is important for Syrah, which tends towards higher brix when fully ripe.
This wine has nice full aromas of raspberries, cherries and blackberries. There is a nice streak of cinnamon and clove across the nose as well. The texture of the wine is smooth but with a nice beam of acidity across the palate which enlivens the wine and gives it a little burst towards the finish.
