Mission Codename Vee-on-YAY!
Today’s Curtis Winery 2012 Santa Ynez Valley Estate Viognier comes to us from one of our favorite recently discovered winemakers, Ernst Storm. After tasting his Chardonnay recently, we are thrilled to offer another of his exceptional white wines.
This wine is layered and quite complex for a Viognier, very much crafted in the French style. By this, we mean that the herbal and terroir flavor components are given equal footing to the sweeter fruit aspects, and in our opinion, this wine is much the better for it. Elegant notes of white peach, apricot, and lime are balanced by hints of fennel leaf and jasmine, resulting in a wine that is at home both sipped on the porch and paired with a hearty meal. Many on our tasting panel couldn’t wait to pair this wine, well-chilled (of course), with a summer afternoon by the pool.
At over 25% off, you aren’t likely to find such a fantastic Viognier at this budget friendly price very often. Be sure to stock up for summer!
