This 100% Grenache is grown in the tough Ironstone laden hills of McLaren Vale. The vines appear to float above the valley and the sea below, braving the winds off of the Southern Ocean and keeping yields achingly low, thus producing a profound Grenache of delicate balance. Aged in neutral oak for 5 months.
With a relationship rooted in 10 years of friendship, Ben Glaetzer and Benjamin Hammerschlag share a common vision of “producing wines that while they exhibit a distinct ripeness, richness and power also are balanced and vibrant. The fruit was picked in March and remained in tank until July at which time it was transferred into older oak until being bottled first week of July.
91 Point Review-Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Lush, expressive aromas of fresh raspberry and cherry compote, with a spicy topnote adding vivacity. Silky and sweet, offering intense red berry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that gain weight in the glass. Finishes silky and long, with resonating spice and floral notes. This is delicious now but has the balance to age.
