Mission Codename A Mile Up
Very highly recommended, today’s wonderful 2007 Rosso di Sonoma is a lovely, lively red blend from one of our favorite recent discoveries, Petroni Vineyards.
This wine recalls fine Chianti Classico, melded with California-style red fruit. The nose rings out with lush bright fruit. On the palate, the wine is beautifully rich and balanced. It is just what you’d expect from the 96 Point (Robert Parker) 2007 vintage.
The marshmallow quality that we call out, on the palate, is very subtle but we mention it because it gives the wine some additional intrigue.
Overall, this wine is delicious and wonderfully balanced. For less than $20, we think that this wine represents a remarkable value.
Pair with bacon wrapped pork shoulder or sweet breads with a spiced sauce.
