Our dear Agent Noir is a hard man to please when it comes to Pinot. But he was giggling like a school kid when this bottle came in – he couldn’t wait to try it.

This ultra-rare Wine Club Exclusive bottling is “Exquisite!” (Noir’s exact tasting note). You can’t find this wine anywhere else. But today, this “evocative and aromatic” 96-point bottle can be yours for under $50!

You see, Jason Drew is quickly establishing himself as one of the great up-and-coming Pinot Noir producers. Jeb Dunnuck explains, “One of the most highly acclaimed producers in Mendocino County, Drew Wines was started by Jason and Molly Drew in 2000 on a 26-acre apple orchard in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, high above the Anderson Valley and just 3.3 miles from the ocean at 1,250-feet elevation. There they took a chance on growing cool-climate heritage field selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, calling the eight-acre estate Faite De Mer Farm.”

And his resumé reads like a who’s-who of legendary winemakers. Dunnuck expands, “Jason trained with winemakers Craig Williams at Joseph Phelps, John Kongsgaard at Luna, Jeff Baker at Carmenet, Cathy Corison of Corison, and Brian Babcock of Babcock Vineyards before devoting himself full-time to living and working in Mendocino, where he uses traditional methods like whole cluster and native yeast fermentations and doesn’t fine or filter the wines.”

Antonio Galloni of Vinous agrees these are serious Pinots, adding “This is another fine collection of wines from Jason Drew. I admire these wines for their delineation, energy and translucence, qualities readers will find in spades in the 2023s.”

The Westing is a selection of 100% estate fruit made in extremely small quantities (less than 5 barrels!) to highlight the cool-climate westerly nature of their terroir. The cooler maritime temperatures allow for a longer ripening season while maintaining the wines structure – leading to the ripe but restrained red fruits, rose petal, and earth notes balanced by plenty of freshness and silken, filigreed tannins that so entranced Agent Noir at HQ.
