Mission Codename Good golly miss
“If you’re a hedonist who loves big, jammy Zins, don’t miss the wines from Wilson.” – Wine Spectator
We have a mini-Wilson Family zin-a-thon for you today. Not 1, not 2, but 3 Zins from them, back-to-back, as they sell out. With the MASSIVE demand for more deals from them we are now having to piecemeal smaller lots for putting a day like this together, alas, there are new deals in the pipeline we hear.
These are not easy to get, every single one we laid our eyes and hands on last year sold out. You’ll recall that over many years this icon sold through mountains of Zinfandel with ease through a devout mailing list. Alas, times have changed as we were granted access to these extraordinary wines while they last, at prices that the said mailing list would dream of.
You like ‘em bold? You like ‘em chunky? You’re in the right place!
The insanely reliable Wilson Artisan Wineries group delivers every time. This small portfolio of boutique wineries has been hugely popular year after year since their humble beginnings in the early 1990s. With wines scoring big regularly with publications such as Wine Spectator, and an impeccable track record of literally hundreds of Gold Medals from competitions, they are unrivaled, just like their other acclaimed sister properties: Mazzocco, Matrix, Pezzi King, and Rockpile to name a few.
In fact, they’ve been so popular that the mainstream press can’t seem to catch up with reviewing these anymore before they sell out. The accolade worth noting is the Double Gold with 94 points from the 2024 North Coast Wine Challenge by The Press Democrat this year, up there with other top Zins.
In the realm of Wilson Zins, a Reserve means “the best of the best” from the oldest vines and intensity turned up to 11, not for the faint of heart. Molly’s Reserve is an absolutely ravishingly rich, extravagantly full-bodied, and unctuously textured Zin with blackberry, black cherry, cassis, smoky meats, dried herbs, and a finish that just oozes with no hard edges. Quintessential Dry Creek, and a remarkable effort at that.
These Wilsons give out serious Biale, Beekeeper, Martinelli, older Rosenblum or Turley kinda hall-of-fame Zin vibes… no wonder they’ve scooped up every local award since 1993!
There’s very little of these end-of-the-vintage lots. We warned you.
