Opal Moon Winery was founded in 2012 by John Bambury. This winery specializes in selecting grapes from a small vineyard in Napa Valley, Rutherford district. John’s great-grandfather, Jean Bonneau, came to America from France in the 1870s to work in the vineyards in Napa Valley. The inspiration for the Opal Moon name was derived from the way the full moon glows during harvest like a sparkling precious opal, lighting the way for our harvesters to make their way through the vineyard several hours before dawn. The opal stone is the birthstone for October, which is the month we harvest our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. John Bambury is the Director of Winemaking and handles all the winemaking responsibilities.
This Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from the prestigious Napa Valley Rutherford appellation. Its aromas meet flavors of black currant, black raspberry, chocolate, plum, and spice. Its fully integrated tannins are plush and pleasing on the palate, and the wine finishes with a hint of baking spice, cedar, and sweet vanilla oak. Definitely a wine to savor now and over the years, as it will continue to develop even more nuances as it matures.
