“Welcome Back, Kosta” wrote Wine Spectator last year, announcing this exciting launch: “Vintner Dan Kosta is back, albeit he never really left. A founder of California Pinot Noir powerhouse Kosta Browne, Dan has launched a new Sonoma Chardonnay and Pinot Noir project called Convene. The name translates on different levels - it refers to Kosta being back in the wine game and to working with his winemaker of choice, Shane Finely.”

Finley is the ‘secret weapon’ here, with a resume that covers the who’s who of Pinot Noir’s Hall of Fame including Copain, Paul Hobbs, Kosta Browne, Lynmar Estate, and Banshee to name a few. This man is a serial hitmaker, that’s for sure.

Not that we like it any less than the 97-point review below, or disagree with any of it. On the contrary, we found a sensibility and balance in these wines that is rarely seen these days. A throwback to the OG Kostas perhaps? You be the judge. It’s a truly profound Pinot no matter how you slice it. Incredibly powerful but balanced and fresh - rippling with black cherry and pomegranate, a drop of cola, a dusting of cocoa and gentle toasty spices.

Now, the bad news. A paltry 10 cases is all we have. Move quickly!
