Mission Codename Pivotally stationed
No wonder why Wine Spectator found “lots to like here.”
Oakville. Cabernet. And 96 Points by Wine Enthusiast, hello?!
For only $50 - that kind of quality is basically unheard of. This stuff drinks WAY above that. In fact, we feel 100% confident that you could put this alongside your usual gang of $100-$300+ Oakville Cabs at its $125 original release price and it will more than hold its own.
Let’s consider a few similar 96-pointer 2021 Cabs:
- Far Niente - $155
- Shafer One Point Five - $129
- TOR Oakville - $110
Notwithstanding, 2021 was just a banger year in Napa. “A fabulous vintage” per Vinous with “tremendous energy and finesse, savory intensity, aromatic explosiveness, and greater inner sweetness.” One of the best ever, the floor has been raised for quality, and the ceiling is sky-high.
Nottingham Cellars is a newer producer to Napa but not to fine wine. And aptly named, ‘The Pivot’ was born from their recent move into the land of cult Cabs. After years of operating out of Livermore Valley, they recently branched out and headed north to Napa.
And came out swinging.
Straight out of Oakville, made entirely from Clone 7 Cabernet. It’s grown in Oakview Vineyard, a jointly owned site managed by the Sangiacomo and Nord families. Perched on the Vaca side of the AVA, it sits amongst the best company as Tench, Screaming Eagle, Harbison Estate and O’Shaughnessy just to name a few. Napa’s vineyard real estate doesn’t get much better.
This is plush, structured, with a masculine feel. Built for a long haul but it’s sure ready to enjoy right now. Packed with expansive black fruit, dusty blackberries and plums, black pearl cherries, and mulberry jam. The brain-twisting complexity continues as it delivers waves of licorice, roasted espresso, mocha and toasty oak into your flavor cortex. Just insanely good, top shelf quality Oakville Cab (96 points!) for an unfathomable price.
Let’s save you some time, you won’t find this elsewhere easily. The winery is sold out, and a competitor lists a few bottles as a “deep deal” at $70 per and that’s IT.
Now the bad news - we have enough to last a few hours. That’s it. When gone, it’s for good. Move quickly to secure yours.
96 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Opulent and broad on the palate, this expansive and concentrated wine is likely named for Nottingham’s move to Napa Valley from Livermore Valley. The wine coats delicious blackberry and blueberry flavors in soft but thick tannins for a mouthfilling, grippy texture that needs time to resolve. Best from 2026-2036.”
