Mission Codename Bedfellows
Double Agent Wednesday! ‘The Pivot’ is all gone!
Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube documentaries on treasure hunting. Watching people dive in the Bahamas for sunken gold from Spanish galleons.
The thrill seems unmatched.
But then we find something like THIS. And it’s kind of the same thing.
94 points from Master of Wine Lisa Perotti’s The Wine Independent. And a full Ben Franklin back in your pocket. Released at $165 and yours while it lasts for $65… do not sleep on this one!
One taste confirmed a simple fact: this is the best Grand Napa wine we’ve tasted. Really. Polished, supple, seamless - it hits all the right marks and over-delivers big time.
Grand Napa has been on an upward trajectory since the beginning, making killer wines by sourcing fruit from some of the very best vineyard sites in Rutherford, Oakville, and St. Helena. This single vineyard gem comes from their own homebase at the heart of Rutherford, surrounded by expensive names you know: Georges de Latour, Inglenook, Phelps, and Morisoli making it the absolute best value around.
Full-bodied, with a great sense of polish and expressive fruit. A soft mouthfeel and lower acidity carry a gentle current of plush, fruit-friendly style with blackberry and black currant, dark plum taking the reins. Graphite and well-worn leather-bound books, a whisper of sweet tobacco, a kiss of that dusty soil, and toasty oak fill the gaps and merge into a seamless and satisfying finish. Ripe, soft tannins round it all out. Super attractive showing by all Napa standards, and terrifyingly easy to drink.
Easily one of Grand Napa’s best showings, and a total no-brainer if you’re looking for a Napa Cab that delivers triple digit quality for way less.
Again, 94 Points and $100 off!!
Until I can snag a gold coin off the ocean floor, I’ll settle for this.
94 Points – The Wine Independent
“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Crib has 2% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Notes of baked black and red plums, blackcurrant pastilles, and chocolate-covered cherries emerge from the glass with touches of cardamom and iron ore. The full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and savory sparks, framed by velvety tannins and compelling freshness, finishing on a lingering ferrous note. Drink 2023-2036.”
