Mission Codename Promised land
Welpā¦ we told you it would sell out but never fear we have a third Domaine Della lined up
Keep an eye out for this afternoonās Appy Hour email for a third and final Domain Della. Like the other two, it wonāt last long.
Donāt have the app yet?
I left Kosta Browne as she was no longer my project; she became my passion and obsession. I have been crafting distinctive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay ever since.ā David Hajl
Iām just going to lead with the following disclaimer: This Pinot is off the meter good. It will be one of our most popular and re-requested wines of the year. Maybe cracking into the all-time list. And thereās not a whole lot to go around, so get your speed reading on and move quickly.
This has all the right stuff. The former CEO of KB, David Hajl brings an insane pedigree to every aspect of this wine. And as expected, it garnered hefty scores from the pros - 95 Enthusiast and 94 Dunnuck.
And the price!
What little you can find on their site sells for $70+ although most are sold out. So good luck getting ANY.
Who doesnāt like a Kosta Browne, Williams Selyem, Kistler, or other similarly lavish and luxurious Pinot?
But they can put a big dent in your bank account.
This is your ticket to first-class Pinot at an economy price. Delivering that style, you crave for MUCH less than you thought possible.
Domaine Della is a hot new project by Hajl pursuing his own winemaking passion by starting Domaine Della in 2015. The aim was simple - make some of the best Pinot and Chardonnay possible. To that end, he sourced from the best growers and vineyards around, with which he had deep relationships with ready to go, including Terra de Promissio. Located near the Petaluma Gap, which is arguably the hottest spot for Pinot these days, it was brought to prominence by Williams Selyem. A handful of other top-tier names also get fruit from this coveted vineyard including Gary Farrell, SENS3S, and The Calling.
Full-bodied yet not over the top or extracted. Itās a plush, creamy, richer take on Pinot. Front-loaded with deep red fruit - imagine Alpine strawberries, raspberry whips, and sweet red cherriesā¦ A mĆ©lange of baking spices, gorgeous floral notes, and wind-swept herbs complete the complexity. The 15 months in 50% new French oak adds oomph, and with layers upon layers of unfolding fruit it unifies a seamless, massively enjoyable, and impeccable Pinot thatāll leave you weak in the knees and craving another sip.
I know we say it a lot, however, THIS WILL SELL OUT. No doubt about it. We stashed a few cases for ourselves, but the rest is fair gameā¦
95 Points ā Wine Enthusiast
āThis is a stunning wine from the Petaluma coastal site, with a strong cherry flavor that blends with rose and cherry blossom accents. Strawberry fruit leather joins the offerings on the palate, accenting a seamless, creamy mouthfeel that lingers on the close alongside a baking spice note.ā
94 Points ā Jeb Dunnuck
āThe 2019 Pinot Noir Terra de Promissio is elegant and floral on the nose, with ripe strawberry, fresh roses, and cinnamon. This continues on the palate, with pure ripe fruit of candied raspberry, orange zest, and fresh herbs. This is a lovely, well-balanced wine to drink over the coming 8-10 years. Drink 2022-2032.ā
