Mission Codename The best form of flattery
“For Ribera del Duero, a few producers, such as Tabula made it onto the Top 100 list with their 2018s, marrying juicy, blue fruit and polished wines to power and richness.” – James Suckling
Vega Sicilia, make room at the top… here cometh Tábula!
Hate to break it, but they had already arrived in 2002. When they bought 55 limestone-rich acres right next to the legendary undisputable leader of Spanish wine. It’s just that NOW, after toiling for the past 20 years to get there, are attaining the dangerously good results this prized terroir holds.
And guess what? At 95 points and HALF the release price you reap the benefits, while it lasts.
On a buying trip to Spain last year, Agent Noir discovered this hidden jewel of a project that is just about now making its way into the US. And you are the FIRST to see this flagship 2018 Gran Tábula reserve!
Young and talented Aurora García and business tycoon turned proprietor José Luis Muñoz collaborate closely on the meticulous winemaking here, resulting in wines that truly express a sense of place while being distinctly Ribera del Duero in personality, “an appellation which now sits with ease alongside the other great winemaking regions of the world” per Decanter.
This beauty offers up an enticing nose right off the bat with black cherry, blackberry, exotic sweet spices, incense, and espresso. On the palate it displays outstanding volume, intensity, and balance. Rich, dense, and succulent, irresistible today, it also shows enough structure to evolve for at least another decade.
The next cult wine from Spain, that’s for sure, and with 50% OFF it won’t last.
95 Points, Cellar Selection – Wine Enthusiast
“Brilliant ruby-colored in the glass, this wine has aromas of cassis, black raspberry and black licorice, with a touch of charcuterie. In the mouth, the fruit flavors shine through with subtle floral tastes of violet and lavender. It has rounded tannic structure with some pleasant grippiness in the post palate as it leads up to the persistent finish. Drink through 2043.”
