Mission Codename Microcosm in macro vision
Any given Thursday? Think again!
Just take a quick peek at this here.
Then look at this offer today, same vineyard, same vintage, about a TENTH of its price!
Granted, one is a Conterno, yet hear Antonio Galloni’s Vinous out: “Cà Romé flies under the radar, which is a shame, as these wines are truly deserving of more attention.”
Was $130, just because that’s what it costs to farm and make Cerretta, which is one of the most sought-after Crus around. Just a handful of top-notch vintners get access to it - Baudana, Azela, Germano Ettore, Prunotto, Schiavenza, Conterno…. We’re in cult Barolo territory, no doubt. Think Échezeaux in Burgundy terms, which is not a far-fetched association at all, given what’s in our glasses.
Starting with a rich, invitingly sweet, and spicy nose that remains gently fragrant on the palate but with a firm, muscular structure, and beautifully finessed, fine-textured tannins, with subtle, integrated notes of berry custard cream, and Tahitian vanilla. There is a firmness and muscularity to it, while it caresses your senses on the way to the long finish. A great combination of purity, focus, and persistence. And the 2016 vintage? Chef’s kiss
All that at 60% OFF?! Basically, a monumental single vineyard at a miniature price for what it is!
Now what you have to do is grab what you can before it’s gone as it’s destined to sell out.
94 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The Cà Romé 2016 Barolo Cerretta opens to a deep ruby color and pretty aromatic intensity. The bouquet is authentic and pristine with wild berry aromas, blood orange, aniseed and campfire ash. There’s even a cheerful hint of crushed white pepper that adds a zesty touch of spiciness to the finish. In the mouth, this wine is long and polished with lingering oak spice. Drink 2022-2040.”
