Mission Codename Gate Raiders
“Ram’s Gate produces a bevy of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, all from impressive vineyard sites.” – Robert Parker
On your marks! This is a race to the checkout line. The Ram’s Gate Pinot flew out of the warehouse just a couple of weeks ago at impressive speed. And this as a follow up!? 54% off a Sonoma Coast Chard with 94 points?!
Dear Operatives, you are welcome.
You know the name. And if you’ve ever left San Francisco headed towards wine country you’ve likely stopped because it is literally the first winery you hit headed North. Besides hosting many thirsty folks from The City, Ram’s Gate focus is growing Organic and Certified Sustainable vineyards in Carneros and Sonoma Coast. They boast five varietals, but we agree with Bob, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are their crowning jewels. This comes from the Sonoma Coast side of their top vineyards and the elegance shows.
As Haut Living San Francisco says in this article Ram’s Gate nails it every time. GM and winemaker Joe Nielsen has focused on high quality from everything, the vineyards to the customer experience. Per San Francisco Chronicle “Ram’s Gate Winery is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Sonoma County.” If you get a chance to check the place out, do not miss it!
This Chardonnay is soft and pretty. As a coastal Chardonnay, you find hints of pineapple and minerality with all the lush pear and well-integrated oak that your heart could desire. Super balance, a deep core, and a voluptuous finish that’s longer than the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Magnificent acidity and bright complexity to boost. Time to thaw those lobster tails in the freezer!
Honestly, wines of this caliber don’t hang out too long on our site - as evidenced by our mad rush with their Pinot - so do not delay!
94 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Softly complex and beguiling in its creamy complexion, this coastal white is lovely and layered, with impressive acidity. Pear, anise and well-integrated oak highlight a lasting elegance.”
