Mission Codename That familiar tingle
Double Eagle 🦅 has flown away!
The day is young still… so next up is a “TOLD YOU SO” bragging right, pretentiously pointing out that when we discovered this wine back in September and URGED you to buy a ton, it did NOT have the 96 points, yet. Befittingly, Frisson means “a sudden strong feeling of excitement, a thrill.”
Can you feel it? The air is positively charged with a buzz. The kind only a ground-shaking deal like this can produce. Goosebumps? Yea we got ‘em - 70% OFF has that effect! Frisson has been immensely popular on our site. From their proprietary red to the Rutherford Cab and now THIS.
Once $125, now priced not at $50… or $45… try $39!! Was there a pricing mistake? Maybe. Could we have sold it for more? Probably. But we’re keeping it real because you NEED this in your life.
Something happens to many people who visit Napa. They get the bug. The winemaking bug… a select few that act on it. Terry Davis was one of them. One night at a dinner he met Wayne Donaldson (winemaker of Moet Hennessey, Chandon, Louis Martini…) and the two hit it off. Wayne told him he’d call him up if he came across an opportunity - and soon after Terry had some prime Diamond Mountain grapes in his possession. Ever since he’s been cranking out some fantastic quality wines, like this one.
For the uninitiated, Frisson wines are big, plush, and opulent. Forward with fruit, deep with complexity, and impossible to resist. This Coombsville Cab showcases all the dark black fruit this region and variety are known for - dried black plums, black currant, Mexican vanilla, and savory nuances of worn leather, tar, and spices. The only negative is how fast the bottle will drain once you open it.
This drinks so far above our price, it’s crazy. And you know what else is crazy? The fact that we have a tiny bit more left for you today!
96 Points – The Tasting Panel
“Intensity defined, with teeth-grabbing plum skin tannins. Espresso and dark chocolate dominate, with slate not far behind. We have here a balance of power and beauty.”
