Mission Codename Tartufo become tartufi
We cracked the code!
Not the Dorabella cipher - something even more incredible. We located a truly epic Barbaresco! 94 points! For $28!
Still here??! Read quickly - not much of this one.
What did I just buy a case of you ask? Nothing but Nebbiolo goodness, packed to the brim with the intense telltale Barbaresco seductiveness. For starters.
Gonna buy another case before it sells out? Let us not hold you back, we’ll be here.
Where were we? Oh, Barbaresco. The land of GAJA, Giacosa, Produttori, La Spinetta… that list goes on.
For Wine Enthusiast only FIVE other 2019 Barbareschi scored higher. None are under $30, obviously. Barbareschi by the way is not a typo. Anything Italian with an O at the end is pluralized with an I, as in bambino become bambini, bacio become baci, and raviolo become ravioli… isn’t that FUN?
Again, where were we?
In Neive and Treiso! Through the grapevine, we heard that a good reason why this wine is so delicious is that BelColle has strong holdings in legendary Crus like Gallina and Pajorè, from which they bottle single vineyards, and in abundant years those fruit sources also make their way into this Barbaresco bottling.
Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, and tobacco give this great example of 2019 its captivating aromatics. The tannins are silky, the acidity is vibrant in this super-classic, mid-weight Barbaresco. A red of total grace and finesse, this over-delivers, in spades. Do you have anything with truffles white or black in mind coming up ahead in your home cooking adventures this fall? Do not even think of that meal without a few bottles of it.
You made it to the end, and there’s only one thing left to say. BARBARESCHI BROTHERS AND SISTERS - claim yours while it lasts!
94 Points, Cellar Selection – Wine Enthusiast
“Red berry, rose and new leather aromas mingle with whiffs of tobacco on this linear, elegantly structured red. Savory and bursting with finesse, the focused palate doles out juicy red cherry, black raspberry, star anise and white pepper alongside tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Racy acidity lends balance and tension. Drink 2027-2039.”
