Mission Codename Super T4
Super Duper Tuscan Tuesday Store Takeover IS HERE…
Behold the glory!
Beyond the insanely high ratings and overflowing superlatives, some of the most desirable, exotic, and collectible wines in the world truly leave not much else to say.
What more can be said if Wine Advocate claims that “Galatrona sets the bars for other Merlot wines in Italy and around the world. It’s been compared to Pétrus in Pomerol and it shares the podium with other 100 percent Merlots from Italy like Masseto, Redigaffi, Messorio and L’Apparita.”
Maybe remind everyone that Masseto costs $1,000 plus, and Pétrus? Easily $5,000. And this is of equal caliber, with an almost perfect 99 points and costs $85 on Wine Spies???
So, what exactly are them Super Tuscans again? A recent Wine Enthusiast focus sheds some light and brings forth some fascinating remarks on today’s theme: “Super Tuscans can, in theory, taste like anything since their creation was specifically designed to give Tuscan wine producers a chance to color outside of the lines, what unites them is their rich, even brooding, dark fruit flavors, lush palates and long finishes, a great expression manages to be elegant and approachable right away even as it promises to develop yet more sophistication and depth over time.”
Better make that on your own ‘time’ as these most certainly will not last long around here.
99 Points – James Suckling
“The violets and flowers with some asphalt and blackberries are so enticing on the nose. Green olives, too. It’s full-bodied and very tight in the mid-palate and surrounded by fine, polished tannins. It has a unique mouth-feel, velvety, chewy, yet the fruit is very intense with vibrancy and energy. Muscular, yet agile. Pure and poised. Very impressive and enticing. A unique definition of Merlot in Tuscany. Try after 2025, but already seductive.”
