Mission Codename Final Destination
Sure, sure…95 points is GREAT.
But it gets better.
Because did you see the sizzling good price?? Only $23 for a GORGEOUS Aussie Shiraz-Viognier described as “silky and textured” and “fleshy and satisfying,” by the Aussie critic James Halliday.
Coming from one of the country’s best producers, these Yering Station wines rarely see the light of day in the states. So please, with all seriousness - JUMP ON THIS ONE!
Not only one of the country’s best but Victoria’s FIRST winery, established in 1838. The Rathbone Family ultimately bought it in 1996 and have made it a premiere destination for epic wines and truly memorable events. Seriously, tell me you don’t want to have dinner here.
This stands up to many a Northern Rhone or California Syrah, and the value is simply OFF THE METER.
This lithe and sexy Shiraz was co-fermented with a touch of Viognier (2%). Crazy deep violet colors in the glass give way to a harmonious mixed fruit basket of tasty goodness - black raspberry, plum, blueberry and cranberry. It’s long on fruit, with the ubiquitous cracked pepper and cinnamon/nutmeg making their way into the mix too. Terrific acidity keeps it all flowing steadily along into a spice-laden finish. Smooth, round, insanely drinkable - and INSANELY priced!
We implore you to add at least ONE bottle to your Locker. At this price you’d be nuts to not take a flyer on one - and smart to snatch up many more!
95 Points - James Halliday
“This is firmly in the riper spectrum, yet composed. It’s silky and textured, full of dark plums, wood char, licorice and dried herbs. The full-bodied palate is fleshy and satisfying, with expansive tannins. Drinking well right now.”
