Mission Codename Dreams of Norma
I dream of meatballs. And Bolognaise sauce. Sometimes pasta alla Norma. Usually about Arancini - those little meaty rice balls of crispy perfection.
And THIS is the wine to soak your Italiano foodie heaven dreams in.
Italy’s top wine critic Luca Maroni gave this ultra-QPR red a mighty high 98 Points - no small feat.
This gorgeous modern winery is located in Northern Italy but for this wine, they’ve pulled fruit from Sicily on the exact opposite end of the boot and the result is a superb red blend with a Mediterranean flair.
A blend of two indigenous grapes to Sicily, Nero d’Avola and Nerello Mascalese as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine is elegant and bold. Think layers of blueberry, mulberry, and baked cherry with notes of vanilla, coffee, saffron, thyme, rosemary, and cocoa. The rich mouthfeel, brilliant acidity, and lingering finish make it a perfect pair for full-flavor sauces, pasta, and grilled meats.
Andrea Bernardini is La Bollina’s consultant, a veteran winemaker who is known to blend traditional winemaking with modern techniques, and indigenous varietals with international ones. He cut his teeth at Poggio Bonelli & Ruffino in Tuscany after graduating from the University of Pisa - one of the best winemaking schools in Italy.
The guy is a maestro no doubt, making this $25 steal a no-brainer at 35% OFF! SO. MUCH. WINE.
You won’t find a better deal for an epic Sicilian red, trust us.
98 Points – Luca Maroni
