Mission Codename Abbey Cab
BAD NEWS: Degli Dei is no more, just did not last the unquenchable thirst for big Tuscans.
GOOD NEWS: We’re staying in ‘16 Supers BUT UNDER $20, this time with a 100% Cab!
Just when we thought the day could not get more fun, comes this super-duper under the radar gem of a pure Cabernet Sauvignon grown under the intense Tuscan sun that shone oh so brightly in 2016.
This, in all honesty, DRINKS LIKE A DREAM for under $20. Don’t look in Napa Valley, ooh, no. But maybe Paso Robles you MAY find a comparable value. But then again, where would the Italian flare be in Paso?
Primarily known as a hidden treasure for their Brunello, Molino di Sant’Antimo also grows a tiny bit of Bordeaux varietals, making some small lots of killer Cab and Merlot. Only insiders jump in on these and few cases make it to the US market. We happened to be looking at the right place at the right time when we landed this small, small batch for you.
Though they did not review the 2016 Perpaolo, Antonio Galloni’s Vinous raves about these wines, elaborating that here “it’s the cooling influences of Mount Amiata and the Orcia river that can help them produce balanced wines of power, depth and complexity.”
Need more be said?
Stock up, this too shall sell out!
92 Points – James Suckling
“A fine-tannined red with currant and floral aromas and flavors. Medium body. Crisp finish. Drink or hold.”
