Sourced solely from our estate Stymie Bench vineyard, the 2015 Petit Verdot is the second vintage from these newly grafted vines. The Stymie Bench vineyard is located in the newly created Kelsey Bench AVA located within Lake County. Steele Wines has been crafting wines using the top notched fruit from this vineyard since our inception in 1991.

Petit Verdot is best known as one of the six blending grapes (the others being Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Carménère) used in the wines of Bordeaux, one of France’s most famous wine regions. A rich and robust red wine, we age our Petit Verdot primarily in American oak barrels for 24 months. Soft and velvety, this wine is seductive on the nose and elegant on the palate. Dark cherry and mocha with hints of anise. Pair with a perfectly roasted lamb rack topped with mint butter and served with horseradish mashed potatoes or filet of beef served on mushroom risotto.
