More Brunello… a 98 pointer 2015?
If you insist on Pietroso though, there are a few more let of the wonderful 2015 in the Store as well.
MORE of this no-brainer because you asked! And once again BEST PRICE in the US, look no further…
“A champion effort and is immediately recognized for the sheer quality of fruit at hand… a standard by which I judged the other wines of the region. I highly recommend this beautiful Brunello.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Livio Sassetti sits high on Agent Noir’s shortlist of the best of the very best of Brunello producers.
Year in, year out, Pertimali takes its place amongst the most traditional and magically hypnotizing reds of this heralded appellation, often considered a peer of legends like Biondi-Santi or Soldera.
In a mythical vintage such as 2015, mother nature elevated it even higher.
As in 98 points high.
As in over 35% off too, mind you, a true collectible showstopper for a mere $59 just for today.
A vivid ruby core yields to a brilliant garnet rim. Aah, that nose. Close your eyes and it just TAKES you there to the heart of centuries-old Tuscany. Macerated cherries, a Renaissance library, Cuban cigars, dried porcinis, blooming violets, are all there. And more. Deceptively silky at the first sip with iron-clad tannins gripping the middle showcasing the perfect marriage of fruit and earth. Oolong tea, wild berries, hibiscus, and orange peel wrap it up into a crescendo that echoes for minutes.
Cellar ready for the long haul, or feast ready for a pasta al Ragù di Cinghiale with hours of decanting ahead recommended.
All that, did we say at the best price not just in the US, but the entire world?!
Antonio Galloni’s Vinous published this recap just a few months ago, “For over a century, the Sassetti family has produced one of the region’s most traditional wines in the Northeast of Montalcino. It’s on the Montosoli hill that they tend their Sangiovese vines, employing both organic and biodynamic practices to assure that each harvest captures the signature of the vineyard and the vintage. This passion-driven approach continues in the winery, where respect for tradition is coupled with a hands-off mentality. The grapes are allowed to ferment spontaneously before being moved by gravity, during specific phases of the moon, into large oak botti for a long slumber. What emerges from this cellar is a traditionally-styled Brunello with an attractive rustic edginess, which speaks of the vintage first, and then the unique galestro soils and hillside exposures of Montosoli.”
Is there much else left to say? Oh, yes, a fast sell-out is inevitable!
98 Points – James Suckling
“There’s something ethereal in the nose with flowers, cherries, strawberries and shitake mushrooms. Full body. This grows on the palate with super tannin and fruit structure. So much berry flavor and round, caressing tannins that fill your mouth. Tight at the end. This needs four to five years to show its true greatness. Try after 2023.”
