Mission Codename By Chance
Well World’s End had to come to an end with a quick sell out. Just not enough for you thirsty Operatives! Fear not though, if you were a horse, it would be time to drink because you have been led to the goods!
And for an insane price. Under $20 for this quality is just our way of saying thank you and we like you. And if you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you enjoy big, warm, powerful reds that go down way too easily - which this 100% qualifies as.
The $49 winery price? See ya! Try $19…NINETEEN dollars!!
“Per Caso” translates to “by chance” from Italian which is a perfect way to describe Steve Glossner’s love affair with Paso Robles. He studied at Cornell University and discovered Finger Lakes wine region but then made the leap to California to pursue wine. And good thing he did! His career really got underway at Justin Vineyards and Winery where he produced the 1994 Isosceles when it won the prestigious Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lanlande Trophy for best blended red wine and the 1997 Isosceles which was included in Wine Spectators top 100 Wines. Those are some nice wins out the gate!
Glossner has consulted all the classic Paso Robles wineries at this point, including Adelaida Cellars, Halter Ranch Vineyard and Steinbeck Vineyards. He is known in the region as a true winemaking talent. He and his wife, Lola, are also the masterminds behind PasoPort Wine Company and Pendray’s Distillery which produces a variety of Port styled wines and distilled spirits.
The blend here is “Rhone- style” with a touch of Paso. Syrah and Grenache lead the charge and just enough Zinfandel is included to pay homage to Glossner’s first love of juicy Paso ripeness.
In the glass, you’d never guess you could find this wine for such a price. Think warm mixed berry pie, raspberry coulis, and cedar. The bold flavors wrap around lush tannins and balanced acidity. Our suggestion- pair this bad boy with some aged cheese or smoked meats and sing the praises of Wine Spies for getting you such a good deal!
This brand is small and mighty which means not enough to go around. Get at it while you still can.
