Mission Codename Black Magic
Have you been on the hunt for some perfectly crushable Chardonnay to sip while manifesting summertime with all your powers?? The kind that’s over 50% OFF? And made by THE Paul Hobbs?!
Hunt not more.
Today’s wine is your early Easter egg! Black Cordon Vineyards 2018 ‘16x20’ Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
Antonio Galloni said, “Black Cordon was one of the most pleasant surprises of the month I spent in Napa Valley last year.”
“The Steve Jobs of Wine” is the perfect way to describe him. Well said, Forbes! A legend in his own time, he is known for his unwavering attention to detail and his mastery of oak aging. Twice named Wine Personality of the Year by Robert Parker, he is a visionary and a pioneer! He was hired by Robert Mondavi back in the day and went on to be responsible for some of the biggest names in California wine - Opus One, Simi Winery, Peter Michael, Lewis Cellars before starting his own label, consulting business as well as a series of wineries internationally.
Besides being a winemaking virtuouso, Paul Hobbs is known for his uncanny ability to seek vineyards and AVAs that are perfectly suited for the varietal in question. He said, “The true character of a site is only revealed through the work and determination of tending each vineyard with meticulous care and vinifying with minimalist winemaking techniques that fully express the terroir.”
Sonoma Coast is one of the places in the world that makes the best Chardonnay. All the greats pick this AVA for chardonnay because it helps create fresh, vibrant wines.
And Hobb’s stamp is all over this wine. Think lush texture wrapping around rich flavors of baked apple, young coconut and touches of vanilla. On the palate, find a perfectly balanced array of bright tropical fruits and cozy baking spices. This is a buoyant and elegant example of Hobb’s style. And at what price?! Bacon wrapped scallops, anyone?!
More than half off!?!
This wine is worth the hunt, but we have it served up for you on a golden platter. Don’t let this one slip away!
