Mission Codename To the NTH power
Made at Deerfield Ranch Zin from an insanely popular single-vineyard!
Welcome to Dean’s ABSOLUTE hedonistic debauchery! That is one way to describe it. Reflecting its maker’s personality, this is THE ONE! Hard-charging, full-throttle, drop a gear and push it to the limit. That’s the Bordigioni way.
Naturally, if that style doesn’t suit you, wait for another day. But for anyone who likes big, rich, flashy reds, this is for you.
The fruit for this powerhouse comes from Los Chamizal (Deerfield Ranch favorite) in the bucolic Sonoma Valley. A site where beautifully terraced vines thrive in the volcanic, mineral-rich soils at 800 feet elevation. Per the master, this wine comes from “our block” at the very top. And it shows a very similar style as those Deerfield Zins you love. Zinfandel can fall on two sides of a spectrum - lighter-styled, bright OR hedonistic, and ultra-rich. This sits FIRMLY on the opulent side of the spectrum. If you had any of the previous Bordigioni Zins, you know what to expect here.
Juicy as heck, once you get it in the glass, prepare for an onslaught of a face-melting rush of bold flavors. Raspberry jam preserves, sweet red licorice, snickerdoodle cookies, and brambly blackberry. Not for the faint of heart! It’s a hyper-rich, full-bodied hedonistic masterpiece. Still, it somehow remains soft on the palate without a hint of heat.
Let’s review. Plump lusciousness: check. Fruit: check. Saturation: check. Alcohol: check. Acid: …ahem… well… uh, what’s acid?
Oh, and a massive discount? BIG CHECK. To the tune of over 55% OFF.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning this will likely be the last ever Bordigioni Zin we feature as Dean has closed up shop and is moving from his beautiful Annadel estate. We’ve enjoyed many of his wines over the years, and we’re going out with a bang today.
The 2013 was history fast, Dean did not bottle a 2014, so don’t you miss out on this one!
