“Today, I think it’s safe to say that Sta. Rita Hills stands as one of the greatest places in the New World to grow Pinot Noir…” wrote Steve Heimhoff in 2008 for Wine Enthusiast and it is only truer 15 years later.
Nestled in California’s Central Coast in Santa Barbara County, the proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the valley corridors between Purisima Hills and the Santa Rosa Hills creates the PERFECT growing conditions for Pinot Noir. This gem from Sant Wines is a perfect example from Sta Rita Hills.
And it should be! It’s coming from three of the rockstar vineyards in the area- La Encantada, Rita’s Crown and John Sebastiano vineyards Legendary Pinot producers like Landmark Vineyards, Siduri, WALT Wines, Paul Lato and Kosta Browne have all discovered the magic from these vineyards and so did Sant proprietors Debbie and Greg Hammill!
On the nose, enjoy intense aromatics of deep red cherry, a heavenly floral bouquet and touches of cola. Velvety tannins, bright acidity and elegance for days! Exactly what you’d expect from this region. On the palette, layers of thyme, rose petals and playful candied red fruits. The finish here goes on and on.
Wine Enthusiast agreed and gave it 92 points… AND 60% off today! No foolin’
92 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Cola and red-cherry aromas grow more complex with touches of rose, nori wrapper and purple flowers on the nose of this bottling. The mouthfeel is soft and the flavors are broad, with candied red cherry, rose petals and an elegant hibiscus-thyme tension, like an herb-laced fruit punch.”
