Mission Codename Bluest of chips
We pulled it off.
A coup of epic proportions. We scored some wines from a quintessential, blue-chip Napa producer - MARKHAM!! Normally you can only find this at the winery - and you’d pay $75!! From us? You guessed it…a breezy $27!
There are few thrills as amazing as negotiating with a heavy hitter in the Napa Valley wine scene and getting exactly what you want. Dancing with a hungry Bengal tiger, maybe? Tight rope walking across the Grand Canyon in disco platforms, perhaps?
And we did it for YOU!
This Petit Verdot from Markham Vineyards is everything you want and more for an epic price!
Markham is a blue-chip producer in Napa. As one of the Valley’s longest continually run wineries, they have never stopped innovating. Back in the 1800s, Jean Laurent founded the property, built a stunning Stone Cellar waaaaay before it was cool, and pushed the winery to adopt the newest technology of the day and oak cooperage which was not a common thing in Napa yet. In the ‘80s, they were on the cutting edge as the 4th winery in Napa to produce Merlot and they set a gold standard for the varietal to this day. In 2001, they promoted Kimberlee Nicholls to Head Winemaker making her one of the first female head winemakers in Napa. She leads to this day and helps maintain a consistently high level of quality at every vintage.
Today, with 45 vintages under the Markham label, they lead the charge of sustainable winegrowing in Napa with Nicholls at the helm and a team of badass women behind her.
The Heritage Selection Collection is an exclusive series of epic wines that we got special access to, just for you. Trust us, it was like pulling teeth to get the good stuff!
Being a winery direct line, there are no ratings or reviews, but does a ‘15 with this kind of pedigree need it? Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate loved their entry-level 2015 Napa Cabernet though, raving about the very same impression but louder here, it “sashays out of the glass with seducing notes…”
At 64% off, you won’t find a better deal on one of the classic wines from Napa Valley.
The wine itself is deep, dark, and sexy. Napa through and through. Aromas of plum, blackberry, black cherry, thyme, and sage. This is a full-bodied wine that will benefit from decanting or a bit of aeration. Mocha, blueberries, sweet cherry, wood smoke, and luscious vanilla layer over bold velvety tannins. It finishes long and balanced, with a silky mouthfeel that begs for a decadent dinner.
While we were able to talk down the price, the hungry Bengal tiger only gave up a small allocation for starters, so don’t miss out!
