Mission Codename 13th & BACK!
First we brought out the 2016. It sold out in by lunchtime.
Second vintage, the 2017? Gone by brunch.
Today weâre thirsty for a third helping of 13th & Third. Say that three times fast!
We cannot get enough of this wine - and apparently you canât either.
Itâs understandable, really.
â13th & Third Wines are made by the talented Don Burns. His NMR blend is one of the finest GSM blends coming out of Paso.â â Jeb Dunnuck
Hopefully this puts an end to the nonstop deluge of âDO YOU HAVE MORE NMR??â messages. If the first two vintages we offered crushed it, this one straight ANNHILATES everything in its path. 95+ POINTS, and âas seamless as they come and has richness as well as terrific eleganceâ according to Sir Dunnuck. Oh! And 94 points from Wine Advocate, heralding its âgregarious fruit expression.â.
And our price for all this gregarious, expressive, vinous elegance?! Best in class, as youâd expect.
If you werenât paying attention last time, 13th & 3rd is an under the radar winery you probably havenât heard of - yet. Their NMR is a sommelier favorite, and this vintage is firing.
If you love Turtle Rock, Saxum, Linne Calodo, Villa Creek, Booker, etc., etc. then this is right in your wheelhouse. That is to say, itâs a DEEPLY concentrated GSM blend â big, round, and mouthcoating with opulent fruit, spice, oak, and more.
It all makes sense because Don Burns - the same guy who owns and makes Turtle Rock. To save you a google search, Turtle Rock quickly skyrocketed into 100-pointers âcultâ status in recent years with a growing waiting list⌠while Jeb Dunnuck reports that âit may be too late to get on the mailing list, but Don Burnsâ Turtle Rock is unquestionably one of Californiaâs new superstars.â
Guess what? Burns helps make 100-pointers at Saxum too. NBD⌠And he also makes 13th & Third and thatâs IT.
What Vinous says: âGiven Burnsâ lineage it will come as no surprise that his wines are extroverted and fruit-driven, with serious depthâŚâ And this big, brooding, juicy red sucks you in like a Cocomelon episode. Iâm helpless! Give me a sippy cup of this at the park, the movies, the ballgame, for breakfast - doesnât matter - and send my taste buds into hyperstimulation mode. Drowning in cherry cordial, strawberry reduction, and red/black licorice all twisted together and melted down. Thereâs a hefty dose of oak, but it doesnât feel heavy or out of wack. Donât even try taking the bottle away unless you want a full-blown meltdown. Better buy enough to share, because you will want to hoard it for yourself.
No wonder itâs âspikedâ with G2 fruit, THE source that gets the 100-pointers for Saxum and Turtle Rock.
There is not much of this in house and those who missed it last time will be quick to jump on it.

95+ Points â Jeb Dunnuck
âA blend of 50% Grenache, 26% Syrah, and 24% Mourvèdre, the 2018 NMR sports a ruby/purple hue as well as a great nose of black raspberries, mulled cherries, toasted spices, and herbes de Provence. This ripe, medium to full-bodied beauty has a wonderful sense of purity, silky tannins, and a great finish. Itâs as seamless as they come and has richness as well as terrific elegance.â
94 Points â Robert Parkerâs Wine Advocate
âThe 2018 NMR is a blend of 50% Grenache, 26% Syrah and 24% Mourvèdre from the G2 Vineyard and Adelaida Vineyard, matured in 50% new French oak for 22 months. Medium ruby-purple, itâs bursting with alluring scents of cinnamon, wild berry jam, white pepper, garrigue and potpourri plus earthy touches in the undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and fresh with intense fruits yet weightless character and a long, spicy finish. This offers gregarious fruit expression in an elegant package. Drink 2023-2033.â
