Mission Codename Wine-fashion-horse father-and-son
“Rich and racy in feel, and yet I see a level of refinement that places these new releases in rarified company.” – Vinous
CAVALLI!!
Calling all lovers of juicy, powerful, Super Tuscans! Today, while competitors are offering inferior past vintages, we bring you the utterly superb, 96 POINT, 2018 vintage. Fresh off the boat!!
And yes, it’s ALL THAT, as expected.
Every vintage seems to attract superlatives like “gorgeous” and “resoundingly beautiful” and so on. Big scores, too. For…$39?!
We offered the 2016. It sold out in a flash. Why wouldn’t it? You can hardly find this wine in the states, let alone at this price. The famous fashion designer turned winemaker pulled no punches with this one.
Every sip delivers dopamine popping levels of dark fruit up front. Dusty blackberries, black plums, and black tea with some red. Gentle sweet spices, a wink of vanilla, and a foundation of oak. It has the chassis of a tank, the body of a Ferrari, and will last longer than a Honda.
As Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate pointed out “From the wine-fashion-horse father-and-son team of Tommaso and Roberto Cavalli, this lusty blend is the estate’s top-shelf wine.”
Top-shelf at HALF OFF? Have you ever hit it big on a scratch ticket? Me neither.
But I got six bottles of this which must feel pretty similar. You put your money in and get something worth a lot more in return.
96 Points – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous
“The 2018 Tenuta Degli Dei is dense, juicy, and wonderfully inviting. Silky tannins wrap around a core of inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, lavender, and new leather. In the glass, the 2018 is intensely aromatic and layered, with exceptional balance and tons of character. Here, too, the wine’s overall sense of harmony can only be described as exquisite. Drink 2024-2038.”
