Founded by Dick Erath in 1968. It’s situated on a bench above the valley floor in the Chehalem Mountain AVA, on a gentle slope that overlooks neighboring vineyards. To the West is Ribbon Ridge (AVA), which separated only by Dopp Rd on the valley floor. The Chehalem Mountain AVA is known for its varied elevations, aspects, and soils. This vineyard gives us an excellent cross-section of what this AVA can possess on a premium site when farmed by the best of the best. We harvest 1 acre of Chardonnay that is a mix of Mt. Eden and Calera heirloom clones.
Native yeast fermentation in 100% once filled French oak barrels. The entire lot completed malolactic fermentation and aged for 10 months in Remond & Damy barrels. Spicy sandalwood and dried apricot aromas on the nose. A full-bodied Chardonnay with viscous texture and elegant wood tannin structure. Flavors of pit fruits (white peach especially) and marzipan dominate this an incredibly complex and cellar-worthy selection.
