Mission Codename Like a Bosio
“If I didn’t work in the cellar? I probably wouldn’t know what to do.” – Luca Bosio
We’ve heard rumors of delicious, well-made Barolo under $30. But until now we didn’t believe it.
How happy we are to be proven wrong! I mean, we aren’t rocket surgeons, but we know a good Barolo when it hits our lips.
91 points, too!! For roughly the price of a Barbera or a lesser Langhe Nebbiolo you can skip straight to the ultimate expression of Piedmont.
In the past Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate called it “a classic rendition of Nebbiolo” and that is exactly what’s in your glass. Pure, deep, and balanced. The best part though? It’s approachability. Normally a variety famous for iron-clad tannins that sometimes need years to come around. All this beauty needs is an hour in the decanter, and you’re good to go. Sweet red berries, dusty chocolate-covered cherries, and baking spices all emerge to coat your palate with pure joy.
A twenty-eight-dollar Barolo?!!! Seriously?
There’s no way on earth it will last long. But don’t worry, we have another Barolo surprise around the corner…
91 Points – James Suckling
“Fresh raspberries, flowers and walnut shells on the nose, following through to a medium-to full-bodied palate with lightly firm, easygoing tannins and a reasonably long, flavorful finish of fresh fruit. Best from 2023.”
