Mission Codename Alessandria the Great
Been a while without a Barolo!
Aficionados: Here’s a name you should know. The one Wine Advocate calls “one of the very best values found anywhere in Barolo” is here.
A couple of years ago, we sold out the 2016 so fast that despite the shorter vintage, the importer was compelled to offer up his 2017. And that did not last long either.
Antonio Galloni’s Vinous claims that “These beautifully sculpted, translucent Barolos will thrill readers with classically leaning palates… Best of all, prices remain exceptionally fair for what is in the bottle. Alessandria remains one of my favorite under-the-radar estates in Piedmont.”
And once you earn a Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate praise like: “I cannot recommend this estate enough for value-wine seekers and collectors alike. There is something for every Nebbiolo-loving palate in this portfolio, and all these wines hit the ball straight out of the park. Congratulations.” There is only one way: scores and prices go, UP. Like 96 points from WE high. Yet thanks to our loyalty, we bring a generous allocation and an irresistible deal to you for this collectible. You’re welcome.
Oh, it also happens to be the best Barolo we tasted in a while, SO silky, so elegant, so loveable, it’s in a class of its own. We are too flabbergasted to put our notes together so letting the critics rave, so…
Get it while you can.
96 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Rose, woodland berry, pine forest and culinary spice are just some of the aromas you’ll find on this fragrant, fantastic red. Smooth, full-bodied and polished, the savory palate delivers ripe red cherry, crushed raspberry, star anise and white pepper alongside velvety tannins. Fresh acidity keeps bright. Drink 2026–2033.”
94+ Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The Fratelli Alessandria 2018 Barolo del Comune di Verduno shows extreme clarity and focus with pinpoint aromas of cassis, sour cherry, crushed stone and perfumed violets. This is a standout wine that shines bright in a vintage that is not always even when you consider its peers. The wine invigorates the palate with acidity, minerality and fine tannins. This is a terrific, albeit slightly more approachable Barolo. Drink 2024–2040.”
