Mission Codename ¿cómo estás?
This beauty landed in our worlds only last month, and immediately rocketed past ALL PINOTS on the WIA candidates list to the very top, for good reason!
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, it’s freezing out there but the warmth is in our hearts because of THIS.
Pinot Noir from the fabled Sangiacomo Vineyard! Created from the near-perfect 2019 vintage?! Oh YES.
It’s here before your eyes at way over 50% OFF. Equating to just 6.2 Doubloons! Or $25 for those without a handy Doubloon to USD converter. While Sangiacomo Family Wines charges $100+ for their pick of the SAME FRUIT, no joke!
Yes, we’re quite thrilled to have Poundstone back in the house - for a short time at least. If you scored their Chardonnay way back when, you have a good idea of the quality to expect.
The Sangiacomo family has been farming in Sonoma for a century and they have some of the best fruit around. Who else makes a good ‘como Pinot? Let’s see. We have Sojourn (killer, btw), Sean Minor, La Follette, Bruliam, to name a few. Most share one thing in common, clocking in around $50-60+ per pop. This lovely example usually sits right at that $60 price, but we have it for a Christmas-came-early $25.
This wine was crafted under the careful watch of Bruce Devlin. He left his mark on wines at Larkin, Karl Lawrence, Lagier-Meredith, Geyser Peak, Ballentine, and currently his very own Three Clicks label.
No ratings or reviews, yet, but these always score well. Wine Enthusiast loved the previous vintage “With full-bodied intensity and a showing of oak and tannin that persists through the midpalate, this wine finds balance and complexity in its undertones of dried herb and earthiness, traces of strawberry, raspberry and citrus accent the silky finish” being their spot-on note.
And this too is fuller bodied effort, it’s chock full of dusty strawberries, raspberries, plum, a drop of cola, some clove, nutmeg, and that one-of-a-kind Pinot earthiness. Impeccably balanced, long finished as can be, totally “satisfactch’ll” and a rock-solid BARGAIN at our price. Happy days!
They don’t make a lot of this wine, and we got what we could get. Make it yours, a third chance may never come.
