Mission Codename Daylight robbery
A Stagecoach Bordeaux blend at $45?!
Finding anything single vineyard Stagecoach for under $100 is a RARE treat. Under $50 is all but unheard of.
This famed vineyard adorns labels that quickly reach $100 and often exceed $200+. This kind of a single vineyard Stagecoach deal is unheard of when Pott, Krupp Brothers, Alpha Omega, The Debate, Paul Hobbs, or Venge are just some names you’ll recognize making wine from this vineyard.
This WINE CLUB ONLY “Limited Release” gem comes from Rutherford Hill, one of those fixtures in Napa dating back 5 decades. An old giant hanging out quietly up the Silverado Trail just doing its thing for almost 50 years. You can easily miss the sign as you cruise up, but a visit to this winery will take you straight back to 1972 when they were formed. The faces have changed but the wine has been insanely consistent. Winemaker Marisa Taylor started out at Williams Selyem and has been making these wines for 17 years now.
Even after seven years, this is an enormous wine with a long road ahead. It’s rich, mineral-laden, and impossibly dense with a towering structure. Amplified with dusty blueberry, brambly blackberry on the low end, with smoked meats, black pepper, and cloves. Grainy tannins beg for a fatty cut of steak or maybe some birria tacos?!
Fun historic fact: this terrain is so rugged and so remote that in the 1800s it was Wells Fargo’s preferred stagecoach route to ditch bandits. Until the best one, Black Bart cracked the code and robbed 28 (!) in just eight years before getting busted.
Don’t you get busted, what little we have is already moving fast so STEAL yours before it’s gone!
