Mission Codename TheRHYS no comparison
How do you follow a SOLD OUT 1er Cru Red Burgundy?!
With a 94 point Grand Cru California Pinot!!
RHYS. At 50% off? Incomprehensible. Like that advanced calculus class, we had to back out of in Sophomore year of college.
Call it a pricing error or a lucky break, or just plain good fortune. Whatever the case, it’s here now. It’s happening.
New to Rhys? Where have you been??? “Kevin Harvey has brought a savvy, long-time collector’s palate, and a total commitment to excellence to Rhys, along with the significant personal resources to execute his vision. With each passing vintage, the wines continue to improve to the point where comparisons to the best estates in California are increasingly less relevant. Rhys is world-class. It’s as simple as that.”
…concluded Antonio Galloni’s Vinous and ALL critics agree - Rhys undisputedly has become a crown jewel of not only Santa Cruz Mountains but all of California.
And this wine? Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate elaborates that “beginning with the 2016 vintage, appellation wines will no longer be produced under the Rhys Vineyards label, which henceforth will be reserved for vineyard-designate wines. Instead, Harvey’s Alesia label, formerly used for wines from purchased fruit, is being re-introduced as a home for appellation wines—even though these wines will now be produced entirely from estate-grown fruit.”
So, this is 100% estate-grown Rhys Pinot featuring select fruit from their highly acclaimed Alpine, Family Farm, Home, Horseshoe, and Swan Terrace vineyards. The synergy of these high-elevation sites is undeniably strong in this wine.
Did we say 94 points?
At full price, it’s a steal. At half price, it’s a dream come true. WHILE IT LASTS.
94 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains Alesia gets fruit from five of the six single vineyards (no Skyline fruit) and it offers a sensational bouquet of ripe cherries, currants, rose petals, conifer trees, and sappy flowers. Complex, medium-bodied, elegant, and seamless, it’s a beautiful, beautiful wine that unquestionably plays in the same league as the single vineyards. Drink 2018-2028.”
