Made in Ventosa, near Logroño in Rioja Alta from 10 hectares of Tempranillo. Located in high areas with the influence of an Atlantic climate but sheltered from the cold winds from the north, being plots of low productivity and with an average age of 50 years of vineyard age. Clayey-calcareous soils, slightly alkaline, poor in organic matter, and moderate water availability, are very suitable for quality viticulture. Pure Tempranillo results in a great balance between ripeness and acidity. It is a soft wine on the palate, with a fruit-forward personality. This makes it a suitable wine for aging in the bottle, which will give it roundness and complexity of aromas.
The harvest is done manually, fermented in 15,000-litre frustoconical tanks, it and undergoes a long maceration at a temperature of 25ºC. Once the alcoholic fermentation is complete, it is transferred to French and American oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and continues to age for 10 months. The “Soleá” is considered the mother of Flamenco, with great lyrical abundance, diversity, and fertility. The Rioja appellation of origin is the first to emerge in Spain and is therefore identified with this wine. It’s fruity, spicy, smooth, and rich in nuances, a very elegant wine.
