The Nielsenās aim to make wine in a Burgundian fashion. Working with small farmers, producing just a few barrels at a time, and striving for the highest quality. The name āLa Pitchouneā or ālittle oneā even comes from a small vineyard in Burgundy. This bottling comes from two highly coveted vineyards in the Sonoma Coast region - Pratt and Falcon Crest. Notable producers who source from here include Copain, Cattleya, Spring Mountain, and Crescere.
Winemaker Andrew Berge led the way for years, until his untimely passing in 2021. Yet wines built like this will carry on his legacy for many years, decades to come. Five years young, it has TONS of life left.
Glimmering gold in the glass, itās balanced with fruit, acidity, and ripeness all in perfectly high-pitched harmony. It was barrel fermented in 100% French Oak, 1/3 new. So, itās not dripping with butter and has a definite edgy, steely, precision-focused style. Thereās golden apple, toasty brioche, yellow pear, and white nectarines all layered on top of captivating floral blossom notes. A straight-up gorgeous wine to have around this summer.
Just 2 barrels made. And we have a fraction of that to share. Get some before itās too late!
92 Points ā Robert Parkerās Wine Advocate
āThe 2017 Chardonnay Pratt Vineyard has pretty scents of honeycomb, hazelnuts, quince and orchard fruits with some bakerās yeast and white blossom notes. The palate is medium-bodied and savory with great freshness and a long, energetic finish. Drink 2020-2025.ā
