Mission Codename Hat as a madder
“Sometimes I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” - Alice in Wonderland
Us too, Alice. Us too.
In fact, here’s one. A maddeningly good Napa red, released at $75. But we’re dropping it into your lap for…can this be? The world’s lowest known price at just $34??
Fun fact. “Mad as a hatter” - the phrase made popular from Alice in Wonderland actually comes from the 18th century, when hat makers used excessive amounts of mercury in their work. They went a bit loony from the heavy metal exposure, thus the term.
We have not ingested any mercury (knowingly). We’re fit as a fiddle, sharp as a tack, and according to our significant others, very attractive. Still, it can’t be normal to find a wine from Tuck Beckstoffer at this sort of price, can it?
You probably remember a few weeks back we brought you an immense deal on the Dancing Hares and today we’re back with their second wine. It’s an equally compelling, wig-popping value from Tuck Beckstoffer’s mad winemaking world.
A powerful and lush purply-black blend of Bordeaux varietals sucks you deep into its own rabbit hole, kerplunks you right into a pool of blackberry, black currant, plum, and blueberry fruits. And all sorts of secondary notes of leather and cinnamon, shaved chocolate, fig, and warm baking spices join, forming one incredibly rich, supple, and long experience. Pack it for a picnic, with the freshest ham and cheese baguettes you can put together. One taste and you’ll know you made a very smart decision here.
So. Believe the impossible.
How can it be possible anyway? Partly because the 2019 Mad Hatter has yet to be rated, which explains why we got a stash to offer here. Galloni recently wrote “2019 Cabernets are big, bold wines that show the extroverted side of Napa Valley” and earlier top vintages consistently scored big with praise such as “delicious, shares a similarly dark profile with the flagship Dancing Hares, but shows a bit more energy, tension and persistence” from Galloni or *“a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on” from Parker.
It’s right here before your eyes. Until it’s gone, at least.
