Elevage, an evocative mélange of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, stands among legends and serves as an artistic portrait of the vintage at the Chimney Rock estate each year. Named for the French team referring to the maturation period of the wine between fermentation and bottling, this important blend evokes finesse and complexity, depth and dimension, and truly highlights the singular nature of the Stags Leap District.
The 2014 vintage was one of the warmest and earliest on record in Stags Leap District. The middle vintage of a trio of outstanding harvests in Napa Valley, this growing season provided us with ideal conditions to showcase our estate wines. Elevage is always a principal storyteller of vintage since it incorporates several varieties grown on our estate. This vintage Elevage is a classic: seamlessly integrating rich tannins with great complexity and depth, it is a wine that can be consumed young or can be aged for 15 to 20 years.
Deep red with a purple hue. Rich fruit aromas of huckleberry, Bing cherry, and black currant. Undertones of mint, mocha, and vanilla, and violets are enticing in this rich blend. The front palate of this wine is rich and deeply textured. The mid-palate is round and the tannins are firmly structured with a long, balanced finish.
