The Zinfandel comes from Del Barba Vineyard in Contra Costa County, which has soils of Delhi Sand. The vines are planted on their own roots and are aged 40-years-old and 118-years-old. The climate is warm, with cooling breezes from the San Joaquin and Sacramento deltas. The elevation is 120 feet above sea level, orientation is east to west and the aspect is west to northwest.
The vinification was with 15% whole clusters, fermented in concrete tanks with wild yeasts. The wine was aged for 10 months in neutral oak barrels.
Rose petal and fresh fruit aromas are followed by flavors of ripe berries and warm spice, with a finely grained texture and beautiful acidity on the finish.
