Mission Codename Goldilocks
Back for Round 2!
We begged and pleaded for a little more of one of the top-selling wines of last month, and guess what? They could not say no!
But before we get too far again, if you like a racy, steely, ultra-crisp unoaked style Chardonnay a la Chablis, please raise your hand.
We need to ask you to leave.
Come back another day. This wine is NOT for you.
Now that we weeded out all those wet rags, let’s get down, let’s get down to business. There’s no shame in enjoying a big, buttery Chardonnay. You do you. Live your best life. And don’t let anyone tell you it’s not crazy delicious. The only thing crazy here is the price, tumbling down from $60 to $20.
The D’Ambrosio family has a long history of entrepreneurship and grape growing in Napa. Their wines have been hits since we rolled out their Proprietary Reds at massive discounts. Everything they make follows a similar playbook - get a hefty bottle, squeeze an over the top, hedonistic, and luxuriously rich wine inside and seal it with wax. Jeb Dunnuck described an Essere Franco as “full-bodied richness and an expressive, opulent texture” and that description carries over perfectly here, too.
And all that makes perfect sense considering their winemaker Tom Foster’s deep experience at Opus One, Groth & Lewis Cellars.
This is the first Chardonnay we’ve offered from them. In this case, a true “California” style Chard packed with ripe pineapple, sweet lemon bars, toasty caramel, Madagascar vanilla, and a healthy dose of high-grade grass-fed butter. Wait… was that candied nuts? And dried figs? Fabulously rich and creamy on the tongue, it’s all gas and no brakes from start to a long, long finish.
Picture yourself dipping those just steamed lobster tails until glistening with melted butter, mmm.
You saw that discount, right? An eye-popping 2/3 OFF!!
Good luck finding a comparable Chardonnay for less…
