This is a very vibrant wine from an incredibly successful year upon the famed Stagecoach Mountain property, located East of the Silverado Trail. Developed in the early 1990s by the legendary grape grower, Jan Krupp, our hearty cabernet vines are grown at an elevation of 1,200+ feet above the Napa Valley floor, in the Atlas Peak district. The difficult, and incredibly rocky, and often steep terrain makes for amazingly complex and multidimensional wines known for their sharp sophistication and longevity in the wine cellar.
Winemaker Kirk Venge’s Notes: “One of my very favorite vineyards, wines, and vintages! This release puts it all together and delivers with abundance. The ’14 is full of jam-bomb fruit, great entry, middle, and length to the end. The approach to the nose is a showy array of ripe red fruit, currants, dried cherry, and a subtle kiss of oak vanillin. The mouth shows the typical sensations and feelings of premium mountain terroir. Lush red fruit, dense black cherry, and a moderate fine block tannin backbone. While a bit youthful upon release, I cannot wait to see this wine in 5 or 10 years! I trust that cellared correctly, this Cabernet will be quite enjoyable to 2040 and beyond.”
