Judd’s Hill is a small family winery in Napa started by Art and Bunnie Finkelstein. Art had deep roots in the industry. He founded Whitehall Lane Winery back in 1979 and released their first wine in 1980. As it grew into a much bigger operation, he wanted to return to his roots of small-time, focused winemaking. So, they sold Whitehall Lane in 1988, and along with his brother/partner, they snagged a prime piece of real estate off Silverado Trail and started Judd’s Hill.

A pure crowd-pleaser - not too big and ripe. Just jammin’ with fresh summer strawberries, vibing with red licorice, and bussin’ with all kinds of sweet herbs and toasty baking spices. Medium-bodied with juiciness that leaves the palate yearning for more, sneak attack tannins underpinning the gorgeously pure red berry fruit beneath. The finish rings in a savory touch with exotic licorice, rooibos, and coffee accents that measure up to a Jerusalem bazaar. The level of complexity and deliciousness is striking if not absurd given we have this food-friendly Pinot down to such a crazy deal.

Having taken over the legacy from his well-respected dad Art Finklestein, Judd has carried the torch well over the years with one scrumptious Judd’s Hill after another…

San Francisco Chronicle recites his story best with “Uncorked: Tiki-loving winemaker plays all the right notes: - Judd Finkelstein is what you might call a modern-day Renaissance man. He’s worked in Hollywood, plays the ukulele and makes wine for his family’s Napa winery, Judd’s Hill… … young Finkelstein grew up in the bucolic Napa Valley waiting for the day he could get the hell out, see the world and make his mark. His parents had other ideas for their boy, who now believes that they named the winery after him - partly because ‘Finkelstein doesn’t fit on a label, to secretly suck me back into the family business. - People are a little more grounded in the wine business than they are in Hollywood,” says Judd, who got himself a job at the Brentwood Whole Foods as a wine specialist, helping customers with their selections. About the same time, Finkelstein became fascinated with Hawaiian music, all things tiki and a young lady who would later become Mrs. Holly Finkelstein… The couple moved to Napa in 2004 and has been making beautiful music ever since - and of course, fine wine.”
