Fairly dry spring brought on bud break a couple of weeks earlier than usual and the early development continued throughout flowering, veraison, harvest. Growing conditions were perfect throughout the summer. Grapes had a long hanging time to achieve full maturity and concentrate flavors. The vineyard site is a natural amphitheater, our perfect exposure combined with foggy night and warm afternoon allow us to have a concentration of color and aromas with perfect ripeness in a grape.
A state-of-the-art reception line with vibrating tables throughout minimizes impact, where berries are meticulously sorted by hand and the advanced “Mistral” wind system results in only the highest in quality. Small lot fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks with 5 days of cold soak is followed by alcoholic fermentation. MLF follows in barrel. The wine spends 18 months in oak barrels sourced from the finest forests of central France. 70% of the barrels are new from a mix of world-class coopers with an array of toast profiles.
Vibrant ruby color, this wine has a luscious fruit-driven nose, reminiscence of plums, ripe red fruit, chocolate, and licorice. Persist in a palate with good fruit tones complemented by silky tannins that carry wine to a velvety finish. Drink up to 2025.
