Mission Codename CellarStocker#2
Do you like downshifting as you merge onto the highway and watching the tach bury into the redline?
Or sending huge backflips off monster booters in the snowboard park?
Maybe you want a similar experience without the risk of bodily injury. Open a bottle of this and prepare for a RUSH of ultra-rich, decadent fruit to wash over your tongue. This is Cabernet on X-Games mode.
Randy Lewis definitely goes for a DGAF style, which we could translate but we’d rather not offend the sensitive readers. We’ll call it “Delicious Gorgeous AND Fantastic”. You either love this full throttle style or you don’t. Lewis wines are longstanding favorites among fans of big, overwhelmingly lush Napa reds and whites. A few vintages ago THIS Cab earned Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year, and we have a feeling they deserve the top spot every year. If only it weren’t unfair to others.
Most people love it for obvious reasons. The enormous glowing core of ripe black fruit and plush opulent texture. It’s like a bag of chocolate-dipped black cherries, a splash of mochaccino, a slice of fresh-out-the-oven blackberry cobbler, sweet black licorice, and toasty oak all mashed up into one. It holds nothing back and drinks amazing at this young age, but it will certainly improve with a few more years if you can hold out.
At 25% off, it’s not the biggest discount we’ve offered on a Cabernet, but it’s the lowest price in the country by a long shot. You simply cannot find a freshly released Lewis for less. And if you’re one of the lucky who get some, it’s bound to be one of the best Cabs you’ll taste this year, if not ever.
94 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“Terrific, offering textbook, ripe black fruits, toasty oak, chocolate, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. This full-bodied, incredibly satisfying, powerful Cabernet exemplifies the vintage’s fresh, nicely balanced style. It’s going to keep for 15 years. Drink 2021-2036.”
