Located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, McCrone Vineyard was planted in 1991 on ancient marine sedimentary parent material. Almost 8 acres in size, this site sits at 400 FT of elevation with a South to Southwest inclination. Here the soils are Wellsdale and Willakenzie.
A five-day cold soak took place in small, one-ton fermentation batches of this premium Pinot Noir. Selected yeasts were used and extended aging took place in French oak barrels for 10 months. Fined and filtered at the winery prior to bottling.
The wine is floral and spice focused. Red plum and Bing cherry are steeped in a sun tea with hints of hibiscus. A brooding, darkened cherry evolves on the palate into a voluptuous cola finish.
