Mission Codename The Punch
Whew! What a wild last few days of offers. Our Nespresso machine has never seen so much action but we gotta keep this deal train running!
Huge THANK YOU to everyone who snagged some of these absolute gems over the past week.
Even if you’re fully stocked with no space, we’re imploring you to make room under the bed, in your closet, dig a root cellar - whatever it takes to make room for this LUSH, full-bodied, soul-enriching Pinot Noir in your future life.
The Putnam Vineyard is truly unique, as it stands alone near Annapolis in the deep, deep Sonoma Coast, even more northernly than the highly praised, extreme-coastal Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. Very few wineries have access to this oceanfront, fog-kissed fruit, and they include hot names such as Relic and Tongue Dancer. One sniff, one taste, you KNOW this is the Wild Wild West.
Reynoso is a small family-run winery in Sonoma started up by Joe Reynoso, the oldest of 15 children. Today they are in the third generation of growing with 100+ acres planted on their 550-acre estate. They supply top grapes to top wineries in the region but keep a tiny amount of their finest picks to make small amounts of their own.
You may recognize Drew Damskey from his own Palmieri label or one of his other consulting projects, he was named a “Winemaker to Watch” by San Francisco Chronicle back in 2017, praised for his Pinot Noir style that is “a rare breed that’s likable from both sides of the wine culture wars — restrained but juicy; deeply fruity but always fresh and bright” which also holds true to this beauty before us.
Only 4 barrels were made of this blockbuster and we got every last one they’d part with.
As the severely underrated writeup correctly points out, “thick, rich and smoky fruit dominates in this full-bodied densely lush vineyard-designate.” No doubt, this is a full-blown crowd-pleaser that tilts into the hedonistic side of the Pinot spectrum in a style similar to Belle Glos, Martinelli, or dare we say, even Aubert. But good luck finding anything like that anywhere near $25. It’s simply BUSTIN’ with rich black cherry, sweet pie crust, black tea and cherry cola. All saturating and unabashedly intense.
A true powerhouse that you need to taste!
And, hey Wine Enthusiast, only 90? Really??!! Umm, sorry but no. This is SO MUCH BETTER! At $55, it packs a punch, at $25, it IS the punch.
That’s all for now, running on fumes and need to find the next great deal! No time to waste!
90 Point – Wine Enthusiast
“Thick, rich and smoky fruit dominates in this full-bodied densely lush vineyard-designate. Dark cherry, cola and clove round out the interwoven flavors.”
