Mission Codename CellarStocker#1
The 2020 Cellar Stocker event is HERE!! By our rough estimates, wine consumption is up about 2,597% this year for…reasons. At least, that’s what the math worked out to between our households. If you’re like us, your cork collection is overflowing and your stash of the good stuff is dwindling. Hey, literally any night this year seemed like a good excuse to bust open the good stuff, right? Well, we’re here to help replenish those gaps in your stash and we’ve been saving six truly spectacular deals just for today.
And we’re kicking it off with a total heater from THE Paul Hobbs!!
A name held in the highest echelon of winemakers, responsible for countless 95-100 pointer vinous pleasures. And today we’re unleashing his very own 2016 Napa Cab which brings a trifecta of big ratings and raving reviews. For an unprecedented 33% OFF?!
You NEVER see this, like ever.
Before we get any further, know that there’s VERY little to go around…
Antonio Galloni’s Vinous declared “Paul Hobbs’s 2016 Cabernets are just viscerally thrilling today… I have never seen a vintage here with this much richness, freshness and pure pedigree.”
Hobbs brings a wealth of experience, working as winemaker for Opus One, Simi, Robert Mondavi, and consulting for Peter Michael, Lewis, and many top wineries around the world, particularly in South America. He’s obsessive about vineyard management and seems to have a sixth sense for bringing out the truest nature of terroir from whatever place he’s working with.
This has everything you want in a high-end Napa Cab. Plush as a pool of cotton balls and rich like Scrooge McDuck, just a hedonistic pleasure front to back and side to side. “Deep, fleshy, super-expressive” as Galloni noted, it has loads of red currant, blueberry jam, sweet vanilla creme, cassis, and some exotic wood. Undeniably delicious, with a finish that just does not quit, you can enjoy this now or in ten years. If you can wait that long, of course.
Serious collectors should be all over this one.
Don’t expect it to last long.
94 Points – James Suckling
“Intense aromas of blueberries and blackcurrants with black licorice. Full to medium body, dusty and horizontal tannins and a flavorful finish. Precise. Drink now.”
93 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals bombastic blackberry pie and blueberry compote notes with underlying cassis, dried herbs and unsmoked cigars scents plus a waft of pencil shavings. Full-bodied and jam-packed with black fruits and earthy layers, it has a solid, grainy frame and a long finish with a lively herbal lift. Drink 2019-2023.”
93 Points - Antonio Galloni’s Vinous
“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is just as delicious from bottle as it was from barrel. Deep, fleshy and super-expressive the 2016 has a lot to offer. Inky blue/purplish berry fruit, lavender, mint and spice notes all grace this alluring Napa Valley Cabernet from Paul Hobbs. Drink 2020-2030.”
